CON CÁ TIỀN KIẾP
Kiếp trước chàng là con Cá
bơi trong dòng sông Cửu Long
một hôm dòng sông dậy sóng
con Cá dạt bờ lìa sông
Nhưng làm sao bỏ được nước
nhưng làm sao bỏ được sông
nên Cá cứ năm ba bữa
nhớ sông xót xa ngập lòng
Chàng là con Cá mắc cạn
quẫy trong dòng sông vô hình
bên bồi xót thương bên lở
Cá ơi có xót thương mình
Thương chàng con Cá tiền kiếp
thương dòng sông ngày một khô
có ai đi về phương ấy
thả hộ xuống sông bài Thơ.

THE FISH OF THE PREVIOUS LIFE
He lived as a fish in his previous life
swimming amidst the flows of Mekong River
then one day the river uprose the waves
The fish out of the water went up on the shores
He was a fish
How could a fish stay out of the water?
How could a fish stay away from the river?
So with each 3 or 5 days ticking by
memories of the river flooded him with sorrows
Now as a fish stranded on the dry land
thrashing about in the invisible river’s flows
half of his heart filled with sorrows, the other half frittering away
poor fish, did you feel the despair of your fate
Have pity on Him, the fish of the past life
Have pity on the river drying up by the day
Is there anyone going up that way
have him in the river release this poem

LE POISSON DE LA VIE PRÉCÉDENTE
Vivant comme poisson dans sa vie précédente
il nageait au milieu des flots du Mékong
puis un jour de soudain le fleuve soulève les vagues
Et le poisson hors de l'eau est jeté sur les rives
Il était un poisson
Comme poisson, pourrait-il rester hors de l'eau ?
Comme poisson, pourrait-il rester loin du fleuve ?
Ainsi, avec chaque 3 ou 5 jours qui s'ensuivent
les souvenirs du fleuve l'inondent de chagrins
Maintenant comme poisson échoué sur terre ferme
se débattant dedans les flots invisibles du fleuve
la moitié de son coeur en peine, l'autre moitié s'écroulant
ressentis-tui pauvre poisson, le désespoir de ton sort
Aie pitié de lui, le poisson de la vie passée
Aie pitié du fleuve, qui de jour en jour s'assèche
si quelqu'un, qui en chemin, monte par cette voie
fais-le dans le fleuve relâcher ce poème
